WILL YOU BUILD A DREAM WITH ME?

Last year, I fully realized a dream I have stepped in and out of for nearly twenty years. I have always loved sharing knowledge and being in community with others who are drawn to similar ways of seeing and creating. Art has been my refuge, my voice, my translator of the world and my place within it. I use ART to Awaken, to Remember, and to Transform. And I teach others how to tap into that flow, whether they already know it lives inside them or are just beginning to discover it.

For those who are seeking community to create, connect, and deepen their practice, this is what Studio 113 exists for.

Along this journey, I came to a realization that forever shifted how I understand my role as an artist: there would never be a piece I could make that would be more precious to me than what I inspired someone else to create. When I witnessed my students’ work at The Language of Fabric exhibition and stood beside them as they shared their personal stories, I was truly transformed. In that moment, a deep sense of fulfillment awakened within me, and it has led me directly to this point.

This is the season to open the doors to a sacred space for makers ~those just beginning and those ready to go deeper.

Studio 113 will be held with clear intention, vision, and consistency. It will be resourced with guidance, tools, and materials so anyone can learn how to create with them: sewing machines and sergers for garment and art production; linoleum and carving tools for printmaking; heat presses and transfers for product development; and a communal donation center for creative collaging and repurposing.

This space is meant to feel like a reclamation of the recreation centers that were stripped from our communities, a place for intergenerational gathering, where wisdom and stories are shared across making tables and hands are busy bringing ideas to life.

I am dreaming out loud a space for many to activate their inner child work, where art is fun, but it is also “serious business.” A space where time flies because we are outside of it, simply listening and riding the wave of inspiration.

As this is a vision, and a vision is like a child, it requires a village to raise it. This precious concept needs many hands to hold, nurture, and guide it. Those hands can extend from those closest to me and from those far away. Love aligned with resources creates an unstoppable flow of abundance, which is why you are reading this.

If this vision of Studio 113 and its intergenerational creative workshops aligns with you, please consider supporting it into fruition!

Ways to Support Studio 113

(Monetary • Material • Relational • Energetic)

This space is being built with openness and oneness. Whether you are newly discovering this vision or have been walking alongside my work for years, your presence here is meaningful.

Support may look like a one-time or recurring financial contribution, a donated sewing machine, paintbrushes, fabric scraps, old denim, paper, thread, tools, tables, shelving, or other gently used materials. It may also arrive as words of encouragement, guidance, shared resources, or introductions.

Every offering, large or small, tangible or intangible, becomes part of the foundation.

All are welcome.

All are needed.

All are deeply appreciated.

I invite you to take this moment to consider Membership and becoming a Founding Pillar, Architect, or Builder of this hands-on hub for creative action.

Founding Pillars ~ $100/month

Architects ~ $50/month

Builders ~ $25/month

Each tier includes access to one to two monthly classes or workshops, the Collaging for Clarity series, open lab co-working days, and online courses for those who are not local, so everyone can take part in the hands-on process.

Beginning February 1st, I am taking the first step to secure this space within the home of The ArtsXchange. I am choosing to leap, trusting that the need and the desire will align in perfect timing. I hope to begin classes right away, and any physical donations such as tables, chairs, shelving, or studio supplies are deeply appreciated as we bring this space to life.

If you feel called to support in any way not listed, please reach out. We are grateful for every form of generosity.

Thank you for witnessing this vision and for considering how you might help hold it.

With gratitude,

Jasimine Agape Pennywell
