Rebuilding the Village: Supporting Single Mothers in Colombia
No mother should have to raise her children alone. Yet many women today are doing exactly that, without the support, resources, or community every family deserves.
Around the world, many mothers are raising children without the support systems that families once relied on. For single mothers especially, the challenges can be overwhelming, balancing work, childcare, and emotional wellbeing while often doing it all alone.
But mothers were never meant to raise children without a village.
My name is Shanika Malcolm, and as a mother of three daughters, I understand deeply the importance of community and support. My life’s work has been centered around healing, building community, and helping women reconnect with their strength and purpose.
Through my partnership with Motherful, we are now launching Motherful Colombia, a grassroots initiative dedicated to supporting single mothers through community care and shared resources.
Our vision is to create a small but powerful hub where mothers can come together for:
• Support circles and community gatherings
• Wellness days for rest and healing
• Food baskets and essential resource distribution
• Emergency support for mothers in need
This work is about more than charity, it’s about restoring the village so that mothers and children can thrive.
Your donation will help us provide resources, gatherings, and support systems for mothers who need it most.
When we support mothers, we strengthen families, communities, and future generations.
Together, we can help rebuild the village.
